The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at St. Mary’s Medical Center named a Center of Distinction by Healogics, a national wound care management company. To be named a Center of Distinction, The Center for Wound Care achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal, and other quality outcomes.
Additionally, the center earned the Robert A Warriner III, MD Center of Excellence award. Only those centers earning the Center of Distinction are considered for the Warriner award. Centers earning it meet the quality standards for a minimum of two consecutive years.
“These awards are a reflection of the great team we have in the center,” says Scott Kujath, MD, FACS, Medical Director of the Center for Wound Care. “Our staff works continually on improving outcomes and providing the best care for our patients.”
The center treats patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, soft tissue radionecrosis, osteoradionecrosis and other chronic wounds which have not healed in the expected amount of time. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.
“We are so proud of the work done in the center,” says Deb Ohnoutka, Chief Nursing Officer for
St. Mary’s. “Their commitment to quality is shown is so many ways. Our center is one of the few in the area accredited by the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society.”
