Sleep Disorders
Signs You May Need a Sleep Study:
- Snoring
- Told by others that breathing stops while you sleep
- Awaken suddenly gasping for a breath
- Sleep is restless and disturbed
- Fear of not being able to go back to sleep after waking up
- Have family members with sleep problems (i.e. parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters?)
- Overweight
- Sweat while sleeping
- Wake up with headaches
- Increased irritability
- Feel fatigued
- Excessively sleepy during the daytime
- Accidentally fall asleep at inopportune times (i.e. driving, working at desk, watching TV, in conversations with other people)
- Difficulty with sexual functioning
Other Sleep-related issues:
- Periodic Leg Movements- legs kicking at night disrupting sleep
- Narcolepsy- falls asleep without warning; vivid dreaming, strong emotions associated with sudden weakness
- RBD (REM Behavior Disorder)- acting out dreams
- Seizures
- Insomnia
