St. Mary’s Heart Center has been granted an additional three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Nuclear Cardiology. This latest accreditation awarded to demonstrates St. Mary’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in nuclear cardiology.

In order to receive accreditation by IAC, St. Mary’s Heart Center had to undergo an intensive application and review process comprised of a detailed self­ evaluation followed by a thorough review by a panel of medical experts. The IAC accreditation process assesses both the critical operational and technical components of program, including case studies and corresponding final reports. Once the proess was complete. St. Mary’s was foundto have satisfied all published standards.

IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indicator of consistent quality care and a dedication to continuous improvement.There are many factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on nuclear cardiology including the training and experience of the technologist performing the examination, the type of equipment used and the quality assessment metrics each facility is required to measure. All of these factors contribute to a positive patient outcome and St. Mary’s Medical Center continues to meet and exceed the standards patients expect.
